Job Description

As an Evening Supervisor/ Dog Handler at BARK U, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being, safety, and happiness of our canine guests. You will be responsible for leading and supporting our evening team, facilitating a smooth transition to the overnight shift, and upholding our high standards of care and commitment. You will also be responsible for delegation and management of escorting dogs safely throughout the facility for potty breaks, supervise their play during playtime, and maintaining a clean and organized environment for all dogs at BARK U. Additionally, you will demonstrate these skills independently as needed . This role requires a love for dogs, patience, and the ability to handle various breeds and temperaments.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Guidance: Provide clear direction, support and guidance to team members to achieve goals and maintain productivity. 
  • Team Coordination: Assign and delegate tasks effectively to ensure smooth workflow and balance workloads among team members.
  • Performance Management: Monitor and evaluate team performance provide constructive feedback, and conduct regular check-ins to support individuals and team development. 
  • Training and Development: Oversee onboarding, training, and development initiatives to ensure all team members have the skills to succeed. 
  • Conflict Resolution: Address and mediate conflicts within the team, fostering a positive and collaborative environment. 
  • Communication: Facilitate open communication within the team and between departments, sharing updates, feedback, and organizational changes as needed. 
  • Problem Solving: Identify challenges or obstacles and proactively find solutions to improve processes and address team needs. 
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure a safe and organized work environment by adhering to all safety policies and procedures. 
  • Goal Setting and Achievement: Work with team members to set individual and group objectives, regularly tracking progress and making adjustments as necessary.
  • Motivation and Morale: Foster a positive and motivating environment, recognizing achievements and encouraging teamwork and accountability. 
  • Resource Management: Oversee the allocation and efficient use of resources, including supplies and equipment, to meet team and organizational needs. 
  • Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of team performance, attendance, and any other relevant documentation.

Handler Responsibilities:

  • Monitor dogs during playtime to ensure safe and appropriate interactions.
  • Intervene promptly in any conflicts or behavioral issues.
  • Maintain awareness of dog behaviors and body language to prevent potential problems.
  • Prepare and distribute meals according to specific dietary requirements and schedules; document as required.
  • Engage dogs in physical activities and provide mental stimulation through enrichment activities, puzzles, or training exercises.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout facility.
  • Address client inquiries, concerns, and special requests professionally and promptly.
  • Report any signs of illness or injury to management and follow established procedures.

Requirements:

  • One year minimum of experience working in a dog boarding or daycare setting. 
  • One year minimum of successful experience working in a supervisory or leadership position.
  • Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments confidently and safely.
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership and effective communication skills with team player and growth mindset mentality alongside a customer service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform cleaning tasks.
  • Ability to remain calm and react quickly in stressful situations.

Job Type: Full-time

Hours: 4pm-12am
