Requirements
We want every dog to have a safe, fun, and rewarding experience at BARK U. Review the requirements below to ensure your dog is all set to join us.
ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Dogs participating in group play cannot have a known bite history involving people or other animals.
- Dogs who have not visited BARK U in over one year must complete a reassessment before returning.
Required for Daycare & Lodging
VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS
- Distemper
- Rabies*
- Bordetella
Rabies vaccination is required after 16 weeks of age.
Required for all services.
MICROCHIP REQUIREMENTS
- Dogs participating in daycare and lodging must be chipped.
- Microchips help us identify pets and provide an added layer of security at pickup.
- We offer microchipping services on-site for dogs who are not yet chipped.

Puppy exceptions
Puppies have different participation requirements to help them get started safely and confidently while they grow.
- Puppies can begin participating as early as 10 weeks of age
- No Care & Playgroup Assessment required
- Rabies vaccination not required until 16 weeks of age
- Microchipping not required before getting started
- Eligible for Puppy Daycare, Puppy Lodging, and Puppy Training
SPAY & NEUTER POLICY
At BARK U, participation is based on behavior, temperament, and play style—not whether a dog is spayed or neutered. Our goal is to create safe, successful experiences for every dog while accommodating a wide range of needs.
- Spaying and neutering are not required to participate in our services
- Females in season requiring lodging will be accommodated through Private Care & Play for an additional fee
- Intact dogs may participate in daycare and lodging when appropriate for the environment
- Dogs are evaluated based on behavior, social skills, and group compatibility
